House Pictures Part 1- Livingroom, Kitchen, and Porch

:)

Sorry it has taken so long to get them up but I wanted to be a little further along in the decorating process before I put up photos. We still have a LONG way to go as you may notice in some of the photos. We are still purchasing art work and knick knacks for the house.

I am going to break up these posts into two parts. This one will be- Living room, Kitchen and porch photos. Part 2 will be our Master Bedroom and Bathroom. After that I will be working on a closet tour.
If you followed during the building of our house you know that I was going for a southern coastal, beach-y style. I think I have been able to accomplish that so far but it is still a work in progress. I am still trying to figure out what my house decorating style is but it is fun trying new things in the house. As my MIL likes to say - "Everything is returnable" So why not experiment a little.

Above is the "study" which turned into Shane's man cave. We are going to make one of the spare bedrooms into an office for now.

Light fixture above the entry way. I love the birdcage look.

This painting is SO special! It was a wedding present from my grandfather and it was painted by my deceased grandmother. She painted this many many years ago and my grandfather was so kind to gift it to us. The CRAZY part about it is he chose this photo without ever looking at photos of the house or knowing the decorating style that we decided on. This painting was meant to be in our home and it is priceless to me.

Do I need to say it? But I am obsessed, over the moon in LOVE with my kitchen! #dreamcometrue

Bar area

Exposed double farm sink {I had to fight for this one!}

The rest of the photos are from our summer kitchen and porch area. The BEST thing about our porch is that it has retractable screens. If you know anything about summers in Florida you know that the bugs are a nightmare so we just could not NOT have screens. But I wanted to be able to have useable entertainment space and the retractable screens give me that. If we are just sitting outside for dinner we leave the screens down but if we are hanging out by the pool we often have the screens up. Its the best of both worlds!

Thank you so much everyone for reading!

House Decor Inspiration

I haven't talked about any of my decoration ideas or themes for the house so I thought I would post some pictures to give y'all an idea. The theme for the house is "Old Florida Meets Southern Coastal Charm". {I saw that in a magazine :)} but it perfectly describes EXACTLY what I want our house to look like.

I am definitely on the hunt for a bed similar in shape to this. I LOVE anything tufted and I just think it make a room look so nice.

I have had this type of table in mind for awhile and I completely love harvest wood tables. My FMIL might have found a perfect one at Z Gallerie and I really hope we get it or one similar to it. I am also thinking of getting some awesome tufted, dramatic chairs to put at the heads of the able and something simple for the sides.

I have found a few DIY projects on Pinterest I want to recreate and this is definitely one of them. Living in Florida my entire life I have no shortage of a shell collection and I think these would look awesome on the wall or in a bathroom. I think I might do it in a silver frame though.

Love coastal/beachy lamps and there are so many different options!

I LOVE these paintings and I am hoping to find some similar to these to place around the house.

I have fallen in love with everything mercury glass since we picked the hanging pendant lights below that will go over the island in the kitchen. Definitely hoping to find some awesome lamps like this maybe for the guest suite or our master bedroom.

The mercury glass pendant lights that will go over the kitchen island. There will be 3 of them

I love the ottoman in this picture. It makes the room feel so cozy and I LOVEEE whicker

Such a cool mirror

Absolutely love these two items above and below. Definitely want these for our coffee table in the living room

So now onto the color scheme for the house. Since we are going with a coastal theme I wanted different colors of blues throughout the house in the paint colors and decorations used. As well as a rainbow of corals and tans. Below are the 3 things I have been using for inspiration for the corals, blues, and tans.

I LOVE this bed so much. I love the color and everything. it is more neutral which is great.

I really love the idea of having a few nautical things in Shane's study and I just think sail boat plans are the coolest things to hang on the wall. Thinking of painting Shane's study a darker hue of blue.

This picture above was the inspiration for our living room entertainment area. I have seen this done in a lot of houses recently and I just love the shelves on each side. We decided not to have a fireplace because you know… we live in Florida {haha} and there is no need for one. I would rather have extra cabinet space to store things.  In the picture below you can see how they are framing the areas to the left and right of where the TV will go. We don't have a lot of walls in our house because it is such an open concept so I really wanted a place to put wedding photos and other photos and some cool decorative items that would be in a common area.

I found this lighting fixture and totally love it. We are trying to find something similar to go over the dining room table but something that is a lot longer and oval so it covers more area over the table. I love that it has the hanging crystals but I really like the shade as well.

Well that is it for now. The house is moving along great. The wall insulation went in last week as well as all the windows, and the french doors to our master bedroom and the door leading out to the outdoor area. The glass sliding doors haven't been installed yet. They have started putting the roofing tiles on the roof and should be putting up dry wall this week.

Until next time :)
